Equality and Gender Unit

The Equality and Gender Unit was set up to facilitate the integration of the gender perspective in systems of analysis, follow-up and evaluation of the plans and programmes developed by the Andalusian regional government (Junta de Andalucía) during the programming period 2000-2006. The Unit intends to maintain a continuous action comprising at least said programming period. Each year it will set objectives and actions on the basis of the results achieved and the progress made.

At this time the objectives are:

To identify the needs and potentials of the management centres which manage measures under the 2000-2006 Operative programme in what concerns the integration of the Gender Perspective.
To facilitate training for management teams on the Integrated Gender Approach as a framework for common actions.
Supply specialised and permanent consulting services for management centres on subjects related to the Integration of the Gender Perspective in their management.

Said specialised consulting shall be provided through the private section of this website, which can be accessed after taking the training given by the Equality and Gender Unit on the subject or accrediting required knowledge.

The Private Area comprises the following sections:

Regulations, laws, recommendations, decisions, declarations and conventions at the international, national and local level on gender mainstreaming and equal opportunities.
Information and documentation on good practices developed by other administrations or organisations.
News, statistics, graphic material, etc...
Diagnostic and conclusions on the integration of the gender dimension by the managing bodies of the Operative programme for Andalusia 2000 - 2006 (May 2002).
Guides for applying the gender approach.
Contributions made by management teams and website users.

Notices on new documents in the Materials and Documentation section.
Agenda of events, conferences, meetings and courses.
Notices on topics being discussed at the Forum (a further website section).
Website news, enlargements and improvements.

This section will provide the possibility of communicating in real time with the Equality and Gender Unit team for any type of consultation, either to request advice, consult on specific issues related to the application of the gender perspective or the use of the website. In addition, the section will include an anonymous list of questions made and the answers given so as to share the information being exchanged.

A Forum for exchanging viewpoints and experiences, as well as commenting the documents in the Materials and Documentation section and any other topic of interest for the website users.

A section providing the possibility of making contact and chatting with all the website users. This tool will also be utilised to set up chats with experts, exchange experiences, know-how and doubts.

The Help section will provide all the information needed to navigate the website, links for downloading programmes for reading specific documents, instructions on saving and printing, tips on instant messaging software, etc.
